These Are the Iconic Wardrobe Pieces You Need for Spring

These Are the Iconic Wardrobe Pieces You Need for Spring

There’s nothing quite like a great vintage score, stumbling on a gem in a flea market bin, maybe the perfect Perfecto sandwiched between bad polyblend dresses. Still, for those of us feeling stretched a hair thin between work and personal life, the marathon trawling entailed just isn’t in the cards. Enter Icons, a new, gender-neutral range of quintessentially cool pieces (Levi’s 501s, moto jackets, army surplus coats, et cetera) curated by Jamie Haller and Nick Friedberg of cult denim brand NSF. Launching exclusively with Barneys New York in April (with a preview tonight), the lineup is one that the Los Angeles–based duo have entertained for some time. Haller tells Vogue.com: “It’s something Nick and I have been talking about for years. We are both personally kind of obsessed with shopping vintage, and we’re always bringing our finds into the office and getting excited about them.” But it wasn’t until they stumbled upon a veritable unicorn of a vintage dealer in L.A. (“a gold mine of amazing vintage pieces in enough quantity that we could consider selling them wholesale,” that is) that that idea became a reality.

7 Models Who Prove That a Good Makeover Can Change Your Life

At the start of a new year, change is on everyone’s minds, and fashion thrives on this spirit of reinvention. For the women in front of the camera, a well-timed makeover can take their careers to the next level. Many models take a page out of Linda Evangelista’s book and reinvent their look via new hair color or cut, but only a select few have pulled off the complete 180 in terms of their image. A total redo serves not only to change the immediate aesthetics of a model; it can also change the way they’re perceived by casting directors, the powers that be, and the public at large. The right shift at the right time opens doors, taking a plucky young punk and turning her into a Victoria’s Secret Angel, or giving a girl next door some much needed editorial edge. Take a look at seven of the most interesting model evolutions, and see how these stars have used personal style to keep the industry buzzing. Who knows, it might inspire your own.

Opening Ceremony’s New Collab: Coming Soon to a Red Carpet Near You

Galvan, eveningwear’s cool new kid on the block, is about to enjoy some serious limelight. While the London-based brand has in the past nabbed some top-tier red carpet credits (Jennifer Lawrence, Sienna Miller, and Rihanna), the 2019 awards season is poised to see quite a few more. Opening Ceremony, along with fashion’s foremost purveyors of sparkle, Swarovski, has tapped Galvan to collaborate on a capsule collection for both Hollywood’s elite and mere mortals alike. The partnership will be serving up custom Swarovski-encrusted numbers for starlets, as well as an OC-exclusive range of Galvan ready-to-wear looks. (Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s tastemaking multibrand was one of the line’s early stockists, since Spring ’15.)

The Polo Shirt Comes Out of the Closet and Back Into Fashion

Since its inception on the tennis courts during the early 1900s, when it was referred to as the jersey petit piqué (courtesy of René Lacoste), the polo shirt has been the starchy yet sportily casual marker for good manners, polished prep, and an above-average golf handicap.

The 10 Best Beauty Looks: Week of January 11, 2019

The 10 Best Beauty Looks: Week of January 11, 2019

During a week of arctic blasts and El Niño showers, the week’s best beauty looks offered a ray of light. Warm nude makeup (Saoirse Ronan) and air-dried textures (Lily James) took us back to the sunny season, while perennial beach babe Elle Macpherson showed that a salt-sprayed head of waves pairs as well with a cozy, fur-trimmed knit as a bikini. Slick hair (Olivia Palermo) also staged a comeback, just as Kiernan Shipka showed that a breezier take on a seasonal red lip is as easy as ditching your lip liner.

The Art of Elysium Annual Heaven Gala and Sean Penn Supports Help Haiti Home

The Art of Elysium Annual Heaven Gala and Sean Penn Supports Help Haiti Home

Awards season is in full swing in Los Angeles, celebrity spottings are even more frequent than usual and nary a facial appointment is available in town. On the eve before the Golden Globes, the Art of Elysium hosted their annual Heaven Gala with Dame Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler as the creative visionaries. “Andreas made this dress for me in five minutes,” Westwood remarked about her ensemble for the evening. The husband-and-wife duo are also creative and sartorial partners. Wild Daughter, an East London–based punk band, performed onstage in the center of the room during cocktails, and as Amber Valletta, Christina Hendricks, Zendaya, and more filled the space, they quickly noticed that the bassist was wearing nothing but black leather briefs, completely baring his backside, and thigh-high black leather boots to match. Dree Hemingway even got up close and personal with the band to take a few photos on her iPhone.
