Hijab-Wearing Model Means for Muslim Women
The 5 Golden Rules of Athleisure: Is It Really Acceptable to Wear Yoga Pants All Day Long?
Blame the designer athleisure boom or the annual glut of New Year’s resolutions to hit the gym on the regular, but this month you can expect to see even more women than usual wearing workout gear. Be it on the school run, in the line for morning coffee, over a business lunch, or even drinks, performancewear as everydaywear for women of all ages is becoming de rigueur. “It seems that it is now totally acceptable to wear your outfit all day, every day,” says studio owner Simone De La Rue. “Even if you haven’t worked out.”

Olivier Rousteing’s #BalmainArmy is in expansion mode. Yes, he already has 2 million troops on Instagram, which says nothing of the mononymous celebrities who wear his clothes and support his vision (Kim, Kanye, Rihanna, Gigi, Kendall, et al.), but Rousteing’s Spring campaign for the house brings a new demographic into the mix: ’90s fashion icons. Shot in black and white by Steven Klein are Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer posing in the designer’s body-conscious and ruffled Spring creations.

Stuart Vevers walks to work at Coach along the High Line every day, lucky thing. The aerial park, with its grasses and fig trees and urban butterflies, tracks across the west side of Manhattan as one of the most joyously human examples of industrial repurposing in our times. The new Coach offices are under construction near the end of the High Line at 30th Street, as it happens, and it was adjacent to that location, on a perfectly sunny September afternoon, that the company invited the press, buyers, and celebrities to step along the old railway tracks and into a temporary grass-planted space to see the first big runway show Coach has staged for New York Fashion Week.

There’s a petite and equally head-turning version of the ruffled crimson gown Cate Blanchett wore to Singapore Fashion Week. The same nerdy schoolgirl beret and pussy-bow blouse Gia Coppola wore to the brand’s show last season has been dwarfed in size—though the look still stands tall. And as far as gentlemanly smarts go, the natty geometric-print suit Harry Styles recently took for a spin has been tailored to fit future boy banders. It’s all enough to make you wish the collection went up to a size 16. “It’s no longer a ‘kid collection’ but a full, beautiful collection of ready-to-wear and accessories that has been shrunken down,” says Vogue.com’s Anny Choi. “It’s perfect for any celeb kids attending the red carpet: They can look chic and grown-up, and even match with Mom!” And with the Golden Globes this Sunday, there’s no telling whether a little star in the making will give the collection its red carpet debut.

Awards season is in full swing in Los Angeles, celebrity spottings are even more frequent than usual and nary a facial appointment is available in town. On the eve before the Golden Globes, the Art of Elysium hosted their annual Heaven Gala with Dame Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler as the creative visionaries. “Andreas made this dress for me in five minutes,” Westwood remarked about her ensemble for the evening. The husband-and-wife duo are also creative and sartorial partners. Wild Daughter, an East London–based punk band, performed onstage in the center of the room during cocktails, and as Amber Valletta, Christina Hendricks, Zendaya, and more filled the space, they quickly noticed that the bassist was wearing nothing but black leather briefs, completely baring his backside, and thigh-high black leather boots to match. Dree Hemingway even got up close and personal with the band to take a few photos on her iPhone.

Read MoreThe 10 Best Beauty Looks: Week of January 11, 2019
During a week of arctic blasts and El Niño showers, the week’s best beauty looks offered a ray of light. Warm nude makeup (Saoirse Ronan) and air-dried textures (Lily James) took us back to the sunny season, while perennial beach babe Elle Macpherson showed that a salt-sprayed head of waves pairs as well with a cozy, fur-trimmed knit as a bikini. Slick hair (Olivia Palermo) also staged a comeback, just as Kiernan Shipka showed that a breezier take on a seasonal red lip is as easy as ditching your lip liner.
