Dakota Johnson Steps Out in Gucci’s Chic Ugly-Pretty Shoe
After taking the reins at Gucci almost a year ago, Alessandro Michele’s retro maximalist aesthetic (read: tiered ruffled dresses, floral suits, and lady bags furnished with throwback hardware) has been resonating with A-listers on and off the red carpet. Actress Dakota Johnson is an ardent fan of the Italian house, and stepped out onto the rainy sidewalks of New York earlier today in the brand’s heeled clogs.
Johnson’s winter footwear game has been decidedly on point this season, from the Timberlands she wore in Aspen to the studded boots at LAX. And her shoe choice today certainly puts her strides ahead of her peers.
Of course, the ugly-pretty appeal of the clog is well documented, and this version happens to be chic and practical all at once: It comes finished with the signature horsebit and an ankle-stabilizing strap to boot. The J. Mendel fur and pleated skirt are glamorous for sure, but it’s fair to say that the cool factor of this look was built from the ground up.
